A native of Germany, cellist Niklas Eppinger received his training from M. Wagner, Daniel R. Graf and Julius Berger. His musical development was significantly influenced by William Pleeth, whom he studied with in London. Further studies with Thomas Grossenbacher and Berhard Gmelin in Lübeck and Hamburg followed. He has participated in masterclasses with William Pleeth, Robert Cohen, David Geringas, Arto Noras, Sigfried Palm and Harvey Shapiro.
Even as a young artist, Eppinger received numerous national and international accolades. In 1998, he won the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, and in June 2001, he was awarded the first prize at the “Leonard Rose” International Violoncello Competition in Maryland, USA.
Since then, he has established himself as one of the most successful cellists of his generation, and has performed with orchestras including the Bavarian Radio Symphony, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony, the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hannover, the Nordwestdeutschen Kammerphilharmonie, the Berliner Symphoniker, the Hamburg, Bergisches, Nüringer, Osnabrück and Bochum Symphonies, Cappella Istropolitana, Sinfonia Varsovia, the Philharmonie Südwestfalen, the Moldovan Philharmonic, the Deutsches Kammerorchester, and the Baltimore Symphony.
Eppinger’s collaboration with renowned musicians such as Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet, Christoph Eschenbach, Peter-Lukas Graf and Eugen Istomin have led to performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in Baltimore, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Khumo Hall in Tokyo, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, in South Korea, for North German Radio (NDR) in Hamburg and Southwest German Radio (SWR) in Stuttgart, for the German Federal President in Bellevue Palace in Berlin, at the Bergen Festival in Norway, the Interart-Festival in Budapest, the Internationale Musiktage in Liestal, Switzerland, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Santa-Barbara Festival in California.
Since the summer semester of 2006, Niklas Eppinger has held a professorship at the Würzburg University of Music.
There has been released already some CDs, among others the "French Cello Concertos" with the Bochumer Symphoniker and "The Hungarian Solo Album".

Der in Deutschland geborene Cellist Niklas Eppinger erhielt seine Ausbildung u.a. bei M. Wagner, Daniel R. Graf und Julius Berger. Entscheidende Impulse erhielt er von William Pleeth, bei dem er in London studierte. Weitere Studien folgten bei Thomas Grossenbacher und Bernhard Gmelin in Lübeck und Hamburg. Er besuchte Meisterkurse bei William Pleeth, Robert Cohen, David Geringas, Arto Noras, Sigfried Palm und Harvey Schapiero.
Der junge Künstler erhielt bereits zahlreiche nationale und internationale Auszeichnungen. Er gewann u. a. 1998 den internationalen ARD-Wettbewerb in München und im Juni 2001 den 1. Preis beim internationalen Violoncello-Wettbewerb Leonard Rose in Maryland, USA. Er hat sich seitdem als einer der erfolgreichsten Cellisten seiner Generation etablieren können und trat u. a. mit dem Bayerischen Rundfunksinfonieorchester, dem RSO Frankfurt, dem Rundfunksinfonieorchester Saarbrucken, dem NDR Hannover, der Nordwestdeutschen Kammerphilharmonie, den Berliner Symphonikern, der Cappella Istropolitana, der Sinfonia Varsovia, den Bergischen Symphonikern, der Philharmonie Sudwestfalen, der Philharmonie Moldawien, den Thüringer Symphonikern, den Osnabrucker Symphonikern, den Hamburger Symphonikern, dem Deutschen Kammerorchester, den Bochumer Symphonikern und dem Baltimore Symphony Orchestra auf.

Seit dem Sommersemester 2006 hat Niklas Eppinger eine Professur an der Musikhochschule Würzburg inne. Es sind mittlerweile eine Reihe von CDs erschienen, davon u. a. die „French Cello Concertos“ mit den Bochumer Symphonikern und „Das Ungarische Solo Album“.

尼克拉斯·埃平格曾与吉顿·克雷默、尤里·巴什梅特、克里斯托夫·埃森巴赫、彼得-卢卡斯·格拉夫和尤金·伊斯托明等著名音乐家合作。他登台过的世界级音乐厅有：纽约卡内基音乐厅、巴尔的摩克拉丽丝史密斯表演艺术中心、法兰克福老歌剧院、东京库莫音乐厅、荷兰阿姆斯特丹音乐厅；他还曾在柏林贝尔维尤宫为德国联邦总统演绎独奏。他出席过的音乐节有：挪威卑尔根音乐节、布达佩斯跨界艺术音乐节、瑞士国际音乐节、石勒苏益格-荷尔斯泰因音乐节和加利福尼亚圣芭芭拉音乐节。自2006年夏季学期以来，尼克拉斯·埃平格一直在维尔茨堡音乐大学担任大提琴教授。
